Stay a few days (or longer!) and do some exploring. Here are some of the many options:

• Three National Parks on Nelson’s doorstep – go explore the Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park and/or the Nelson Lakes National Park.
• Beautiful beaches and meandering rivers for swimming and sunbathing.
• Great local walks and tramping including the Abel Tasman Coastal Track and the Heaphy Track.
• Award winning vineyards and boutique breweries – go on a tour wine tasting tour or bike tour of the region.
• A vibrant arts community where you can visit many of the artists working in their studios.
• Book a Bone Carving Workshop where you will make your very own unique bone carving necklace – the perfect souvenir of New Zealand.
• Visit interesting museums including the World of Wearable Art Museum and wonderful art galleries such as the Suter Art Gallery.
• A town centre renowned for its excellent shopping and great coffee houses – and if you’re in Nelson on a weekend, a visit to the Saturday Market is a must!
• Adventure sports including kayaking, mountain biking, sky diving, horse-riding, paragliding, sailing, and quad-biking.
