Nelson is a great base for exploring the Tasman Region

The Tasman Region boasts three amazing National Parks. The small and beautiful Abel Tasman National Park which features the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Then there's the rugged beauty of the Kahurangi National Park with the famous Heaphy Track and the alpine Nelson Lakes National Park. All three are within 1 1/2 hours drive of Nelson making Nelson the perfect base to explore these fantastic areas.

• Take a wine tour to the Vineyards and Orchards in the Moutere Hills and the Waimea Plains
• Use the "Nelson Art Guide" to visit the studios of Artists, Potters, Sculptors, Jewellers
• Visit the coastal town of Mapua - stop at the famous Smokehouse Cafe or the Jester House on the main highway, home to tame eels you can feed
• Travel via the Inland Highway and visit the historic Moutere area - home to artists, handmade preserves, world class wineries, handmade knives, apples, blackcurrants, olive oil, a cheese factory
